You’ve heard by now that Plasterkatz is getting ready to release our second album, Right in the Eye. You’ve gotten e-mails from me telling you about how excited we were that we were having the CD release party this Saturday, September 12, at Irelands 32 in San Francisco . Surely you saw my giddiness at having Avalon Rising agree to open the evening.
Ever heard of Murphy’s Law?
Yup. Just days ago we were notified by Irelands 32 that they decided to hold a private party there Saturday night and bumped us, leaving us homeless for the evening. A new CD and nowhere to celebrate it.
We reached out as much as we could in the time we had. Lots of our friends came through with numerous options, some of which were already booked, others that required payment beyond our means, and others that were just impractical for us to consider. To all of you who gave us these leads and contacts, you’ll forever hold a special place in the hearts of the ‘katz. Hopefully you’ll see us at any/all of these places in the near future. However, after much deliberation (and frustration) we’ve been rescued by some incredible friends.
Ever heard of Murphy’s Salvation?
Curtis Murphy, and his amazingly wonderful wife Jenna have offered to open up their beautiful home in Vallejo for the evening!
For those of you who have never met Curtis or Jenna, or been to their home, you’re in for a treat! These are awesome people (and I’m not just saying that because they saved our asses!) and have had Plasterkatz perform there before. We’re thrilled that they’re hosting us again.
The address is 1156 Belmont Avenue , Vallejo , CA 94591 . There’s no cover charge for the evening (though we’ll be passing the hat for donations) and we’ll be providing a keg of tasty beer from BJ’s Brewhouse in Vacaville, which will be available for folks 21 and over (for a donation) but since it’s a private residence we’re not restricted to adults only, so feel free to bring the kids to this all ages show! And of course we’ll have our new CD Right in the Eye, as well as our first album Past Due, available for purchase.

I know it’s not “The City”, and it’s not what we originally planned, and it’s not like we won’t be having another CD release party somewhere in “The City” fairly soon, but it’s something far more important than any of that. It’s friends helping friends in a time of need, and that in itself is worth celebrating.
I hope to see all of you there.
